History of Calabria

Calabria is well known for its ancient and reputed Mediterranean civilization. Calabria is the land of transit for many years for ancient Mediterranean civilization. Magno-Greek civilization is the synonymous for the calabrian style of living, which has it presence back to many years, as the Greeks couldn’t gain entry into the region enabling other cultures to prosper simultaneously.

Many calabrians in their quest to end the sufferings and pains of the World War I started emigrating to other places especially United States by the end of the 19th century. The world war halted the progress of the region, which in turn ended the prosperity of the people of the calabrian region.

Checkered Past and Resurgent Present

During 1950s farmers engaged in bitter fight against the authorities and police over reappropriation of land leading to the exodus of people of the region to the industrially developed and prosperous northern Italy. This exodus continued till the end of 1960s.

In the past few years, the region of Calabria started witnessing resurgence of sorts with real estate boom and many foreigners preferring to invest in real-estate properties making the region of Calabria a real estate hub of future. This is making look towards the region with even the country of Italy taking steps to develop the region.
